The Nabji Trail is an ideal trekking open from October up to the end of March. The trail starts in Jigme Singye Wangchuck National Park, a park with an ecological rich environment. The park is located in center of Bhutan, is also home to several cultural rich agricultural villages also possibly see the Golden Langur (Trachypithecus geei), one of the rarest monkeys like, which can only be found in Bhutan and Assam in India. Nabji is an peaceful village surrounded by green paddy fields and the villagers of Korphu are well-known for their hospitality as visitors will often be greeted by a Chipdrel parade and Marchang ceremony, practices typically reserved for royal family.
This one week trek offers a short, easy and enjoyable journey around scenic Trongsa Dzongkhag. As the climate is warm and pleasant as the trail stays between 1000-1500 m in altitude and there is a wide range of flora and fauna to see along the route including the rare Golden Langurs, Red Pandas, Himalayan Black Bears, Rhesus Monkeys, Rufous-necked Hornbills and Clouded Leopards.

Day 01: PARO-Drive to Thimphu
Check-in at Airport for your flight to Paro a town and seat of Paro district as well as it is the home to Paro Airport, Bhutan’s only international Airport. In the clear weather, there are magnificent views of the world’s highest peaks. Our local Bhutanese cultural guide will meet and greet you at the airport and transfer to Thimphu. Visit the Memorial Chorten-the most impressive stupa built in the memory of Bhutan’s third King by the order of Grand Queen Mother Ashi Phuntso Chodden in 1974. Day 02: Trongsa
Trongsa located in central hub of the kingdom and is historical place from where attempts at unifying the country. The following are some of the prominent places to visit in Trongsa. Visit weekend Market days are absolutely central to the lives of the Bhutanese. Later drive to Trongsa(5 hours drive) driving towards Punakha(2 hours 30 minutes), we come across a pass known as Dochula from where a beautiful panoramic view of the Himalayan mountain range can be seen, especially in clear winter days. The beauty of this place is further enhanced by the Druk Wangyal Chortens. Overnight Trongsa Hotel
Day 03: Tongtongphey – Jangbi Village– 3-4 hours, altitude range 1,000 m–1,350 m.
After breakfast, you can take some time to walk around Trongsa town visit to the Dzong or the museum at the Watchtower of Trongsa. Then drive 2 hours on Zhemgang highway brings you to the start of the trek in Tongtongphey. You can also expand your itinerary with a visit to Kuenga Rabten palace, an important heritage in Bhutanese history or rare Golden Langur, an endangered species of primate are abundant and almost impossible to miss. You will come in contact with the Monpas who are believed to be the first inhabitants of Bhutan. If you still have some energy you can watch a local cultural program or even better, take part in it.
Day 04: Jangbi Village – Kudra Village – 6 hours, altitude range 1,350 m–1,500 m.
After breakfast, perhaps a visit to the orchid garden that houses around 75 different varieties of orchids. The trail to Kudra is especially interesting as it passes stone imprints of Guru Rinpoche’s footprints, dagger and phallus. Lunch is served just before you arrive at Phrumzur, one of the Monpa villages. After a quick visit to the village Lhakhang in Phrumzur and you then continue to the campsite in Kudra and also visit near by villages including Nyimshong and Zhemgang.
Day 05: Kudra Village – Nabji Village 5-7 hours, altitude range 1,500 m–1,300 m.
This part of the trek is a combination of streams, waterfalls and thick forests that will give you an refreshing feeling of being out in the wild. Animals such as Himalayan Squirrels, Rhesus Mecaques, and small snakes are often spotted along the trail. Himalayan black bear, Red panda, tiger and Clouded leopard are also present this region. On arrival at the holy tree in Nabji, the villagers will give you a warm reception. Nabji is a beautiful village with paddy fields circling the clustered houses.
Day 06: Nabji Village – Korphu Village Distance 3-4 hours, altitude range 1300 m–1500 m.
En route to Korphu, Nabji temple is located in green paddy fields. Inside the temple stone pillar on which Guru Rinpoche imprinted the thumbs of two warring kings as a symbol of resolution after bringing peace. Korphu is situated on a mountain top at an elevation of 1,500 m. One of the striking thing about Korphu is that the people exemplify hospitality almost treating you like royalty. The local also perform the traditional ‘Tashi Labey’ dance to bid you farewell. The villagers can teach and allow you to participate in the quintessential Bhutanese games of ‘Khuru’, ‘Dego’, ‘Sok-sum’, and ‘Gee-dum’. You can then visit the village temple that houses sacred relics of Pema Lingpa, the most famous Terton or ‘Treasure revealer’ in Bhutan.
Day 07: Korphu Village – Nimshong Village 5-6 hours, altitude range 1,500 m–1,300 m.
After breakfast trek to Nyimshong is pleasant and arguably the best location for bird watching as it is home to over 400 avian species. The elusive Rufous Necked Hornbill has its nesting holes. The trek is interspaced with waterfalls, streams and cantilever bridges. The evening brings you to Nyimshong village. The women group of Nyimshong have a penchant for singing and dancing and often put on cultural shows for visitors.
Day 08: Nimshong Village – 7 hours, altitude range 1,300 m–1,000 m.
You begin by descending towards the Mangdi River. You are likely to see Herons, River-lapwings and even Golden Langurs in this region. A steep hour-long climb will bring you to the road from where your driver will drive you back to Trongsa then continue to Thimphu.
Day 09: Drive to Paro and departure – 2 hours
The short trek/tour in Bhutan ends on this day. Our representatives will drop you off at the international airport for your flight to Kathmandu
Day 10: Final departure
Today is your last day in Nepal. Our representative will drop you off at the airport as your Nepal and Bhutan tour comes to an end.
