We fly to Lukla and trek along the Dudh Koshi (Milk river) inside two cliffs. Nice good-smelling evergreen, oak, and rhododendron forest on both sides of trail. Easy trek in morning but save your energy because there is a harder uphill climb in later part of trekking day.
Day 04: Trekking to Nauje (Namche Bazaar) (3,440m)
Early wake-up today because this is a big push. Morning section is pretty easy. We get pack-lunch and enjoy maybe tea-coffee along the way depending on cook’s choice. Today is a higher altitude day so slow and steady will work best. You can see Mount Everest (Chomo-lungma) from the new style bridge crossing at Dudh Koshi . Keep walking up to Nauje (Namche Bazaar). We will have nice hot snacks in Nauje which has many Sherpa shops, lodges, and restaurants. Nauje (Sherpa name for Namche Bazaar) is a fun place for both Sherpas and trekkers to enjoy.
Day 05: Namche (Nauje) relax and explore (3,440m)
Sometimes culture show is available in Namche if the singers and dancers are available. You can see Khumbu Sherpa culture very strong here. The way to Tengboche gives view of some Himalayan wildlife life pheasant and deer, and also more and more beautiful views of Ama Dablam and other big snow peaks. Today the trail joins the old (still used) Everest expedition trail. Afternoon trek goes up up up through thick evergreen forest to the famous Tengboche Monastery. Pangboche is the original Sherpa settlement in Khumbu, and Pangboche Gompa is the original gompa established by Lama Dorje, who guided the Sherpas from Kham into Khumbu. Sherpas first entered Khumbu from Kham about 400 years ago.

Day 12: Island Peak Ascent (6,189m/20,305ft)
First thing today is climbing up rock gully – but this is really just scrambling. Following a ridge line, we make traverse onto nose of glacier.
