The Dagala thousand lakes trek begins with your arrival in Paro, followed by a scenic drive to Thimphu, Bhutan’s vibrant capital city. Then a short drive takes you to Gynekha, starting point of trek, where the journey progresses through lush forests, alpine meadows, and traditional villages. The day one trek leads to Gur, offering the glimpse of Bhutan’s high-elevation beauty. The trail route continues to Labatama, a breathtaking campsite surrounded by pristine glacial lakes and panoramic views of the Himalayan peaks, including Mount Everest, Jomolhari, and Kangchenjunga.
The next section of the trekking trail descends through scenic ridge-top and yak herding settlements as you trek your way to Panka. This part of the trek is known for its diverse landscapes, ranging from rocky highlands to lush valleys, leading to one of the most rewarding experiences in Bhutan. The final trekking day takes you through undulating ridges before descending towards Paro, where the trek ends. After overnight in Paro, the trek ends then transfer to Paro International Airport, leaving you with unforgettable memories of Bhutan’s untouched wilderness and alpine scenery.

Ready-to-book adventures
Day 01: Arrival in Paro
Drive to airport to fly to the Paro International Airport, our representatives will welcome you. As per your landing time, you may explore some sites in Paro, like Ta Dzong Museum and Rinpung Dzong. Later in the day acclimatizing and resting in Paro.
Day 02: Tiger Nest Monastery hike and transfer to Thimphu
Early in the morning, hike to Taktsang Monastery, which also known as Tiger’s Nest Monastery. We hike 2 hours of uphill to reach the monastery. The view of the Taktsang Monastery is one of most the significant monasteries in Bhutan. The legend believed that Guru Rinpoche visited there on a tiger’s back in the 8th century and he meditated in the cave where the monastery was built for three months. After lunch and rest for a bit, you will visit the ruins of the 17th-century Drukgyel Dzong. This historical monument was built by Shabdrung to commemorate his victory against invading Tibetans in 1644.
Day 03: Trek to Gur
After breakfast drive to Genekha Village for 45 minutes and start walking downhill to a river. The trail passes terraced fields and coniferous trees. There after begin climbing uphill, crossing a river until you reach a rock platform from there you can observe a gorgeous valley view and trek for two more hours to reach Gur for the night.
Day 04: Trek to Labatama
We will trek high ridges, relishing rough and rugged landscapes and if you are trekking in the spring time, you can see meadows covered with flower ross around Paga Labtsa Pass (4,250 m). This place offer a beautiful view of Mt. Kanchenjunga and Dagala range. The trail will then descends to Labatamba Valley and passes by yak herder and you will reach Utsho Tso Lake, a stunning turquoise lake. Enjoy the serene view of the lake, there after walk to the campsite.
Day 05: Excursion in Labatama
After breakfast you will hike to explore several alpine lakes, such as Relitsho, Setsho, Hentsho, and Jagetsho and during the hike, you will witness breathtaking mountain views and green hills. Following lunch, continue to explore the area and return to your campsite to spend the night
Day 06: Trek to Panka
You will walk uphill for 20 minutes and descend the valley and the mountain views are unique on this day. The trail continue to ascend along the western side of Dala Tsho Lake where you can see more mountains, including Mt. Everest, Mt. Kanchenjunga, Mt. Jumolhari, Mt. Jichu Drake, Mt. Tshering Gang, Mt. Tsende Gang, Mt. Gangche Ta, Mt. Khangbum. Then the trail descends past yak herders’ huts to Doccha Chhu River and then continue to Panka.
Day 07: Trek to Chamgang and drive to Thimphu 7-8 hours
After breakfast, you will trek to Talikha, crossing many passes on the way. On this day you will come across many flowers and birds. The trek ends here, and you will drive to Thimphu Wangdue Phodrang on the way and enjoy a fantastic view of the Dagala range. If time allows, you will visit sites like the National Library, Arts & Crafts School.
Day 08: Drive to Paro and departure
The short trek/tour in Bhutan ends on this day. Our representatives will drop you off at the international airport for your flight to Kathmandu
Day 09: Final departure
Today is your last day in Nepal. Our representative will drop you off at the airport as your Nepal and Bhutan tour comes to an end.
